I don’t doubt the statistic, but most of the cases often involve alcohol and the accused are often men of color. The man and woman often have very differing stories, both of whom are credible and backed by witnesses. They genuinely remember it differently.

I’ve known people on both sides who have been through it. It’s not pretty. They can put you through a year long investigation to revisit all the trauma over and over again to retell the story because the university doesn’t want to get sued. No university has visited the race question because most people assume it’s a white privileged frat boy who never bothered to ask for consent. And you can’t say it’s men of color that overwhelmingly commit rape. Look up how many athletes have gone through it and won settlements against their universities for unfair treatment. It’s not rich white frat boys who are the main targets of the Obama-era guidelines.
