Great article. I wrote about how my students didn't know much about the Holocaust and why, but I can completely see American issues and worldviews taking over.
One of my good friends went to Germany for his Master's. We talked a lot about what it was like to live there but in America, we've made the word "Nazi" pretty casual. You can facetiously call anyone you don't like a Nazi as a joke and it's used pretty frequently on the left to refer to Trump and far-right figures.
In Germany, he said if you call someone a Nazi, it's a pretty big deal. The person gets extremely upset and the whole room goes quite.
I don't think we should impose our politics and views on the rest of the world, but inevitably it happens, I guess.
