Anyways, always a big fan but the karate part of this one really resonates with me. I used to focus my whole identity on how I performed as a runner. I used to obsess and fixate over it. And it always bought me so much anxiety before a race where I was wishing for it to be canceled or shame when I underperformed.
I always found all this pressure to race well that took the joy out of actual running. The ikigai there was the relationships I made through running and the lifelong friends.
