Hi Estacious(Charles White), I interpreted this poem to be a testimonial of the kinds of questions police ask women in calls of domestic violence, which is especially exacerbated in communities of immigrants and people of color, but I found that to be the focus.

I used to work at my school gym and we had to fill out these injury reports whenever we called EMS, and some of the questions I had to ask people to fill out the form were ridiculous, like asking someone who couldn’t move to sign and put their phone number down and describe the exact nature of how they got injured. The bureaucratic component to a lot of these police reports robs the humanity and dignity of the people our institutions intend to serve, but whether it’s a necessary evil because of legal liability is what I wonder
