I actually know a lot of Asians that run! It was a huge thing when I was in Japan to my pleasant surprise, but (and I can say this because I'm Asian) I do believe that in the U.S., other sports like tennis and swimming are where I've seen a greater proportion of Asian runners.
I wrote this before the whole Ahmaud Arbery incident. People started sharing it on social media every since the video came out, and ever since I do wonder how difficult it is for black runners to run in white spaces. I suspect that's how the topic came more to the forefront as to the inaccessibility of running to runners of color.
The west, too, is just this upside-down world compared to the rest of the world. It's where poor people are more likely to suffer obesity and rich people are more likely to be thin, which is strange when other people come to the States. The running world may be the same.
