I have to feel compelled when I’m writing, and then look back fresh when I’m reading. I’ve learned somewhat the opposite of the first point. If it’s not compelling to me, or not emotional to me, it’s not for the reader.

I write for myself and treat myself as my audience, and that often translates well because I read a lot of Medium stories.
