It’s Shocking How Affordable Conservative Areas Are
My fiancee and I went to central, rural Pennsylvania to try out a baker for our wedding. Of course, driving through rural Pennsylvania means you’re often bombarded with “Trump 2020” signs (in 2022) and the occasional “unvaccinated lives matter” signs.
Then, we went to lunch at a local sandwich shop, and I got us two submarine sandwiches and a drink.
The price was shockingly cheap — it was only $10 for two really satisfying, tasty subs and a drink for my fiancee.
Where I live in a major city (Baltimore), I could have easily paid $20 for the same thing. And that’s much better than the cost of living in cities like New York City or San Francisco.
I grew up most of my childhood near New York City, and I have a lot of friends who sold their souls to the corporate and business world that now live there. Of course, one of the first things I ask my friends amidst an unprecedented housing bubble is “how much do you pay for rent?”
For those that live in Manhattan, particularly super bourgeois areas, the price is shocking. One friend whose room is barely the size of my kitchen pays $2200, and that’s on the low end. Other friends with super small studio…
