Looking back at this now 6 weeks through my first year teaching in Baltimore City. I have it in school — have had quite a few disastrous moments and valuable lessons learned that I may expound upon, but haven’t taken a day off and have shown up every day for my kids. No, I’m not the best teacher either. Yes, I groan when I wake up and feel like I get hit by a train by the end of the day in terms of fatigue. Yes, I had to buy my own projector as well as other resources for my classroom and for my students. I pack an extra lunch every day just in case, and even that isn’t enough sometimes.

It’s hard and exhausting, but it’s the best job in the world. Might write a follow-up to this once November comes. But thank you, Dan!
