Thanks for writing this. I see you’ve already caught a lot of backlash on this, but thanks for putting it out there. I disagree with you on some points, but agree about wages, even as a teacher. In my school, school police actually don’t do much besides writing reports. hall monitors “enforce” much more than school police do because of all the implications of school police. To me, that’s semantic wordsmithing — police without the uniform. Of course when we go on lockdowns, school police are very involved and they write reports all day, but they’re never the enforcers, at least not in my school.
