That is true too. There’s a phrase in my favorite show that “you cannot lose if you don’t play,” but you don’t win if you don’t play either. Like low stakes gambling where you lose, well, a couple minutes of a publication doesn’t respond to you, why not for submitting to the most prestigious of Medium publications? Luck does require perseverance, preparation, and opportunity, but the chance factor means that you can be the most well-resourced, hardest worker, with the best job and still have things fall apart and not work out.

Life is too short not to take risks and take chances, and knowing that forces out of our control have so much influence, we can press forward surrendering our neurotic need to control everything.
