This is a really important article, and something that I also think is a pitfall in western psych language. I think other cultures and religion in general do a better job at measuring growth after suffering, but I think you’d be interested in the concept of post-traumatic growth, which runs counter to PTSD. Not as well known, but important nonetheless!
